Pick a town, say hi to the neighbors every day, and work your way up to a house of your own. Here's every grade, what it unlocks and the fastest way up.

The 30-second version

1. Hit level 12. Sign up with Arthur in Henesys Town Hall or Roxy in the Kerning City Civic Center.
2. Every day, open your town's Community Board and greet that day's neighbor. That's +100 points, more at higher grades.
3. Once a week, donate 30 of the item the board asks for. That's +700 to +2,100 points.
4. Grade 2 (level 17 and 1,500 points, about 8 days) lets you buy a house.

Neighbors you'll greet

VIP neighbors from grade 5: Chun Ji and the Dark Lord.

Same in both towns: the discounts, housing, the Resident's Chair, glove attack scrolls at grade 9, Elixirs at grade 10 and the story quests. Only the shops differ, so pick the town that sells what your class burns through.

The 10 grades

Points are from the launch client and count per grade (128,000 in all). Some guides still show the closed-test numbers (1,000 to 10,000). You need the level and the points. Day counts are maplestory.quest's estimate if you do every daily and one donation a week; nobody has hit grade 10 yet. Discounts cover cabs and some store items in your town. Storage fee is mesos per item (100 without citizenship).

How to earn points

Every day: greet a neighbor

Each day the board shows one neighbor. Your first visit is a "First Greeting" and later visits are "Asking After". Each one is worth 100 points at grade 1, plus 25 for every grade above that (325 at grade 10), with a little EXP, mesos and a fruit snack. From grade 5 (level 32) you also get VIP neighbors whose greetings pay about 5,850 EXP.

Every week: donate 30 of one item

The board picks one item from this pool each week, and better items unlock at higher grades. Every donation also pays EXP, mesos and 20 Blue Potions. Check the board before you farm: the item changes.

💡 Stash snail shells, mushroom caps and tails while you level. When the board asks for them, you're done in one click.

Story quests

Each arc is 5 quests and needs the matching grade. Catch: an arc won't start until you've done that neighbor's First Greeting, and the board only shows one neighbor a day. Greet everyone you see. The town earrings are Lv 57, M.DEF 42, +2% crit damage and 5 slots (untradeable).

Housing 🏠

Housing opens with Grand Launch on Oct 21. Get to grade 2 in Henesys or Kerning and you can buy a place in that town.

What you can put in it

Who to talk to

• Return Scroll to My Home warps you home. It has a 60-minute cooldown.
• You can visit friends' homes. The client also has lock and password options and lets pets roam free.
• Nexon says housing will grow with citizenship and crafting. Guild houses come later.

Resident's Chair500,000 mesos at grade 2 from Oak (Henesys) or Weston (Kerning). +20 HP and +5 MP every 10 seconds. Untradeable, one per town. It cost 10,000 in the closed test, so don't trust old guides.

Still unknown: the house price, how you get furniture, chest size and where to buy the Return Scroll to My Home. We'll fill these in once the game is live.

Gotchas

• Switching towns costs 50,000 to 100,000 mesos (reports differ). Your old town's progress waits for you if you come back.
• Read every confirm box. Players lost their citizenship to a misclick.
• Points only count for the town you're a citizen of right now.
• Level gates are hard walls. Extra points won't skip a level requirement.
• Don't overspend buying donation items. The discounts are small; the EXP is the real prize.
• If the level 12 quest doesn't show up, check whether another character on your account already joined, talk to the clerk directly, then relog.
